Only two months till my baby is a year old. Holy smokes. Let's not think about that!
Let's talk about what Tommy has been up to in this past month...
- He no longer drags himself around, he is a full fledged crawler! He's also starting to test out his balance by standing up against the furniture and letting go of one hand, or seeing if he can reach something else. I sense that it won't be long until he's taking steps all on his own! Frankly, he can take as long as he likes.
- Sometimes getting Thomas to eat things is tricky. He loves to feed himself now! Funny how things like that will change over just a short month. He loves having his food on his tray and being able to pick up the pieces he likes and put them in his own mouth. He loves pasta, he gobbles up his fruits, and he likes his scrambled eggs with ketchup.
- One thing we're trying to teach him is "no eating". It's sort of a hit and miss thing right now. Tommy is fascinated with all things electronic and the first thing he does when he gets one in his hand is shove it in his mouth. So we've been doing some tests. We'll let him hold on to something and just keep repeating "no eating" to try and get him to realize not to do it. There are a few times where he just does it anyways so we take it away from him and he throws a fit. But we like to think he's learning!
- That's another thing he's doing. Throwing his fits. It hasn't gotten too bad yet but when you won't let him do the things he wants to, he drops to the floor, gets the biggest pout on his face, looks at you, and just cries. It's almost like he's trying to guilt you into letting him do whatever it was that he was trying to do. Sorry little boy, no can do!
- So, he throws fits sometimes, but when he's happy, it's like a contagious disease! Watching my baby play and discover things that he enjoys, all while a huge smile lights up his face, melts my heart. He has always been a happy baby and I am so glad that he loves exploring. He's getting more silly in his facial expressions too! He has a fake laugh, he scrunches up his eyes and smiles wide, and he even gets his eyebrows working when he's showing all his emotions! I could seriously sit and watch him all day and never get bored.
- Tommy loves brushing his teeth! Okay, he mostly just likes to munch on the bristles. But we try to make sure he is always brushing his teeth when he watches us brush ours so that he knows it's part of the routine.
- This post is obviously late on his "month" day so I'll include our family Easter experience too! We got Tommy his own basket this year but skipped all the chocolates. What I did instead was bought five little Hot Wheels Cars and put them inside the big plastic eggs and bought him a couple board books. I meant to get pictures of it all but Thomas woke up at 6:30 a.m. that morning and no cameras come out before 8! So we gave him his basket on our bed while Dale and I tried to rest a little longer. When I showed Tommy how to open the eggs and that there was something inside he got so excited! He would open an egg and I would say "Look, a race car!" and he would get an ear to ear grin and a gasp of air. It was pretty adorable!

- Dale quite often goes to Value Village to look and see if anyone has thrifted a board game that he's interested in. One evening on our way home, Tommy and I sat in the car while Dale ran in to quickly look around. When he got in the car he handed me a huge bag and inside was a wireless keyboard. You're probably wondering why we spent four dollars on a keyboard for our son. Let's just say, the first thing he does when he sees a computer is slam his hands down onto the keys and never stops. Haha. Best four dollars we've spent in a long time.
Overall, Tommy has been growing and growing! Just like he should be. My heart is full!
